The centerpiece of the 4th Baltic Opera Festival will be Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre, marking the 150th anniversary of the world premiere of his legendary tetralogy. This production from the Royal Danish Opera, directed by John Fulljames, will be staged in the unique setting of the Forest Opera in Sopot.
More than just a myth about gods and the forbidden love of twins Siegmund and Sieglinde, Wagner’s masterpiece offers a universal reflection on power, morality, and the crisis of authority. Within the natural scenery of this „Theatre of Nature,” the nearly five-hour spectacle gains a powerful symbolic dimension, exploring the fragility of the world order and the human condition.
